Looking west from Medicine Hat, Alberta on a beautiful summer evening.

Somewhere along the southern route to BC from the east… along Hwy 13 (SK) / PR 501 (AB) between Govenlock SK and Manyberries AB. We try to go this way now - no traffic, and always the huge beautiful Prairie sky.

Same road… no fences, no ditch, no traffic. Just cattle… and that SKY.

Some photos from a late 1970’s spring trip down the Birdtail River in western Manitoba.

Multiple class 2 to 4 rapids sections, freezing water, dangerous sweepers and thick brush along the overtopped banks made this a challenging trip, which we completed every year for six years in a row until work and family obligations intervened.

And who says you need a canoe! The cartop aluminum boat with makeshift ‘steering oar’ just fine.

A few photos of the “Covid Projects” completed in the last year…

underside of marble table - cherry wood

Sloping headboard made from cedar - sanded and treated with linseed oil.

Shadow Box style picture frame - cheap fir stained and varathaned - no screws, only glue

marble coffee table with cherry angled legs

Surplus ends, cut with 60 deg. angles so as to make a circular 6 sided planter base. No screws, just glue… I made a half a dozen of them.

Another marble table with tapered cherry legs - sanded and linseed oiled

“End of Bed” bench. Dark strip is reclaimed 75 year old cedar… the rest is new cedar. Finish - boiled linseed oil.

Planter boxes to add more garden space in the small back yard. Cedar from local “Enderby Cedar’ folks.

Sloping headboard - cedar finished with linseed oil… and a few of Lorraine’s very first acrylic paintings
